Troll Hjem

The Fort Worth chapter of the Norwegian Society of Texas was established in September of 1977 as the Troll Hjem chapter. Troll Hjem means "troll home" in Norwegian (Bokmål). The chapter meets monthly to celebrate our Norwegian heritage. We gather in the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall at 3621 Tulsa Way in Fort Worth, just up the hill from the museum district and across Montgomery from Amon Carter Convention Center (map). The Norwegian Society of Texas (N.S.T.) is a statewide organization founded on March 8, 1975, "to enjoy, preserve and promote our Norwegian heritage". As in the days of the Vikings, N.S.T. is governed by the Althing, a state-wide body with elected representatives from the local chapters. Please read more about our history.

Membership is open to all native born Norwegians, their descendants, and their spouses, and to anyone who is interested in N.S.T.'s objectives. Membership entitles you to receive the Nyheter (N.S.T.'s quarterly newsletter), your local chapter's newsletter, and a copy of the Medlemsbok (N.S.T. membership book). Please come join us as we celebrate our "Tex-wegian" heritage.

We will meet for the first time this fall on Sunday, September 26, at 3:00. The Sami culture will be the topic of the meeting. See the Nyheter for deatails.

It is that time again. We invite you to renew your membership and encourage you to invite a friend or neighbor to join our group for a taste of Norwegian heritage. The dues are $15 single and $25 family.

Herman Berg, one of Troll Hjem's charter members, turns 100 years old on Oct. 27. Check back soon for celebration information!
